Help Save Zippy Texas

Zippy is a very special sheltie rescue. He went from being abandon and forgotten, to being (initially) turned down by rescue, to finally finding his new home and dad. And… How can you wrong with a dad who they call a ‘saint’! Many good folks, from all over, rallied to save Zippy.

Zip’s story just reinforces to me what rescue is all about… taking the throwaways, the unwanted and the forgotten, not just the ones that are ‘most adoptable’. Yeah! For Zippy!

Zip, zip hooray! My heart swells with emotion when I read these stories, and Zippy obviously touched many of us. I am just so happy he's in a wonderful spot and hope he has lots more time to enjoy it. Soak it up, Zippy!

Zip, zip hooray!

Zip Zip hooray... I love it!

This has been a fantastic thread and great success story. LadyMcBeth has started a new thread in the 'Rescue Chat' to follow Zips progress (thank you) now that he has his new home and is out of the shelter. I'll post any updates I receive and new pictures there. Just FYI, Zippy is starting his HW treatment Monday. I'm a bit nervous for him. More about this in Rescue Chat.

Thanks again to everyone!

I live in Lubbock Tx and 400 mil is just to far for me to travel right now. But I know a few sheltie breeders in the area and I'll give them a call. I hope this sweet old man gets a loving home before its to late. Wish me luck!:fl

Oops, I didn't realize Zippy had been adopted. Only read the posts from the first page. How embarrassing!:o
Very happy for Zippy though!

Sad to report

It’ with a heavy heart I have to pass along the sad news Zippy passed away this past January 28.

Dumped at a shelter, at 12 years old, it seemed as though he searched his entire life for HOPE and love. But last March his dream came true as the wonderful folks at Austin Sheltie Rescue and a very special man, Glenn Mortland, St. Glenn, gave him the miracle he had been so searching for… to finally find a loving home. I’m sure he lived in more love, and in more joy this past year than he did his entire life.

He won his battle with Heartworms last spring and melted my heart from across the miles… as he did with so many others.

Always remember Zippy and what an encouragement he was to us all.

I have been wondering about ZIppy lately. I think so many of us were concerned about this guy and rooting for him to get through his heartworm treatments. I know he lived out his last months basking in the warmth of St. Glenn's love and care.

God bless Glenn, Austin Sheltie rescue, and may Zippy rest in peace at the Rainbow Bridge. He touched so many hearts. I'm typing this through tears.

Thanks so much for letting us know.
