Help....we are stumped....

Oh my gosh - another Sheltie! BUT OF COURSE!!!! :biggrin2:

Now to convince the hubby ... and the 2 cats - thinking they will REALLY object :smile2:

When you figure out how to convince yours send me the instructions.

I do wish we lived closer....puppy play dates would be great! We don't know anyone with a puppy. All my friends have older dogs and they look at Mystique like she is nuts. Our daughter's family have a lab/dalmation cross and althought Bella is just a year she is not really into the same sort of play as Mystique. They rescued her at 5 weeks and although they have worked tons to socialize her she just doesnt' get the play with dogs thing.
We are going to the beach with them today and Mystique loves to try to keep up with Bella when she is chasing her ball. Should be good for a nap later today! Our granddaughter is sleeping over tonight which is also a good puppy exercise time.

I must have a sleepy pup! Merlin dozes off on my feet quite often, though 2 hours is enough to recharge him. Mind you I did the non-stop pup with Cadbury (labrador) so Merlin always seems calmer than him!

And if I am trying to work I just chuck a toy to them and send them off to mess around.

I think doing training with their brain helps loads too.

Ahhhh....20 minutes practicing what we learned at puppy class + 30 min. practicing self control while helping mom clean out the chicken coop + 2 hours gardening + 2 hours running at the beach (and she even tried out swimming much to my shock....hers to I think) + running through the sprinkler with our 3 year old granddaughter = 1 puppy who has slept all evening!!!!
I am sure she'll be up and full of beans again at the crack of dawn.

So there's the answer....get another puppy!! We did that for Lexi...first Kenzie, then Pyper. They do wear each other out!:smile2:

You're right about that. I cannot imagine adopting a singlet again! I never thought I'd say that, but looking at my two play and their bond, I know they need that. My two spend 3-4 hours playing in the yard. Best friends, I tell. you. They do fine without each other as we've taken one on vacation/not the other a few times and one of them doesn't go on walks as much because she needs more work. But they really do wear each other out nicely.

Yup more shelties should do the trick. Pia and her son Blue wear each other out just nicely!

When we lived in Bagdad many years ago we had a faluga wild dog from puppy. His off switch was three miles out in the destert - us in the car and him not. He loved it and wallowed in the endles water we poured for him and mud, plus the sunday roast joint bone. Peace for at least that evening!!!!!

Katie the most bestest dog in the world

4 months old. she is wonderful about the crate. she even goes in on her own if she gets tired or bored (we are way more boring than she is). never wakes me up until at least 8. we make a mad dash for the back yard and she does all her business quickly. then things get dicey. even tho we take her out many times a day and she seems to get it, she still goes pee and poo in the house. I am a teacher (there are two other family members home with her all day, so she is not alone). other than this, she is the smartest, sweetest, most athletic of all 4 shelties I have lived with so far.

Yep, took Lexi over a year to realize she had one. As a puppy we had to put in her in her crate for time outs because she NEVER napped. We said we had to "put her down for her nap" like a baby!

I sometimes feel like Missy has puppy ADHD and RLS (restless leg syndrome). She never stops moving! The only way to get her to calm down is to put her in her kennel and give us both a break.

This is what we had to do with Sadie, otherwise she never stopped. Personally I think its a great solution. Growing puppies need their sleep and fur kid moms and dads need their sanity. :smile2:

Ohhh the irony. I just put Missy in her crate for a nap . Since I'm home today, she's been running around for a while. I'm making her take a nap for an hour or so, then I'll take her to the park. Puppies are exhausting..

Beau is 5 so he is not a puppy, But, I walk him about 1 mile and half for his first pee walk in the morning then the second 1 mile and half is around 8:30 am, He was tuckered today, but, that might have something to do with the heat.

This after noon when I went to take him to the park he just wanted to pee on the tree on the corner and go back in the house.

Please remember now that its' summer to make sure your dog boys' and girls have plenty of water and shade

Happy to report that we have discovered a highly strategic weapon against the Energizer Puppy....a soccer ball. Up and down the beach or puppy park field several times kicking that for her and we have one tired out pooch. Best $7.99 I have spent and boy are our soccer skills improving too!
