herding instinct test

That is so interesting. I would love to see what Sassy would do. The other day she was going nuts because our neighbor moved some cows & calves into the pastor next to our back yard. It was quite funny. She would get down low with her head out & just bark. Good thing she was on leash!

My husband had Ellie in his truck when he stopped to help a neighbor round up two loose doneys--he said Ellie was hysterical in the truck, lol! DH said he could imagine that her hysterical barks meant, "YOU ARE DOING IT WRONGGGGG! LET ME OUTTTT! I'LL SHOW YOU HOW TO DO IT!!!!"

herding went well

i really enjoyed the herding. it was very laid back and fun. my dog was slow to take interest in the sheep, but when he finally did, i was told that he was showing very good instinct (gathering the sheep, rather than chasing them).

this is something i think i will pursue.

also, i got to work a fully-trained border collie at herding the sheep so i could see what it was like to herd when the dog had learned already.

totally great experience. if you get the chance, i would recommend trying herding!

Oh very cool. Uh-oh, maybe Koji is bad for this. He likes to chase. Poor sheep. I did post to my FB and asked about a trainer since I keep reading all these things about trainers being harsh with Shelties (cuz y'know, they're not Aussies/BC). hehehe. Can't wait to try it out.

Do you think you'll continue?
