Hi Everyone,

Yes you need to switch gradually or his tummy will be upset and he may have diarrhea. We use Wellness Lamb and Barley. No recalls of that food that I know of and I do monitor it. Not sure if you can get that brand in Canada. We get ours from Chewy.com delivered. As I said, I feed my adults 1/2 measuring cup twice daily. He may need a bit more if he's really active, I would start with a good rounded 1/2 cup and go from there. You can weigh him on your bathroom scale by weighing yourself, then picking him up and weighing both of you and subtract. That way you can keep tabs on his weight.

Maybe our Canadian members can chime in with what they feed. Fromm is also another good premium brand. You can search under the commercial foods category in the Forums for other ideas.

So I talked with the pet food lady at petsmart and was steered towards the Nutro brand Lamb and rice . It was explained to me that it has less fillers than most other brands . Fingers crossed.

My next question is what do you think is the best treats ? I’ve tried some others , even beggin strips . Today I bought him Beef liver treats . I feel good about them but wanted to know what you all thought

If you're in the US, I recommend Stella and Chewy brand. We feed Stella and Chewy Raw Coated Kibble (chicken). We also have Stella and Chewy freeze dried raw as treats and travel food.

Nutro is a great food...it's what I feed my dogs. They love it and I like the ingredients. Plus there are lots of varieties to meet different needs.

If you can get them, Mother Hubbard treats are all natural and made in a bunch of sizes and flavors, from training treats to biscuits. Just like kibble, as long as you read the ingredients on the boxes and make sure they're good, you'll be fine.

You could also get yourself a jerky gun and make your own treats (they do kinda look like beggin strips when cooked). It makes ribbons of meat (I use ground chicken) and I then bake them in the oven. Super easy, you can also use different herbs to flavour them. My dogs love them and they make great training treats!

Thank you everyone. This is a bit of an odd question. Do any of your Shelties fight with the floor ? Usually sometime after 7 pm Henry starts fight with the floor. Barking and trying to bite it , scratch at it . It’s really ridiculous and lasts about maybe 5 minutes

Well none of mine do that but my 1 year old like to jump on his squeaky toy so it makes noise, then run away and run back and do it again! He does this back and forth for several minutes lol. I think Henry is just being a silly puppy...they all have strange antics at this age.
Perhaps he's trying to herd it...silly boy!

He also wrestle with his pet beds like some kind of flying ninja . Too funny ! I love my pup and thanks for all the help . I’m getting a bit nervous with all pop ups that I’m getting here . Does everyone get them
