Precisely.
The fact is that, contrary to 'internet science' - and internet science is to science what Long Island Iced Tea is to iced tea- the great majority of families in America are feeding their dogs FAR better than they are feeding their children. (What percent protein, what calcium/phosphorus ratio, what percent of daily vitamin requirements are in pizza, Baconators, and Doritos?)
But when i hear of 42% protein diets, and I know that 20% gives the normal house pet dog plenty of protein for normal use, it does make me wonder why its a good idea to use 22% of that excess protein for energy and make all that pointless extra work for the kidney. - Dr. Mac
Very true! And I never saw it so baldly than when I was in Cuba. In Cuba, the average healthy male HUMAN gets 1 serving of red beef per month.
The resort we stayed at had about a dozen stray dogs and equal number of cats. I found myself collecting table scrabs and feeding the dogs and still leaving food on my plate. Then I realized that the dogs are probably getting more meat protein that most of the staff working there! Awful!
