Homecoming! Trial

This past weekend we were in Charleston because my husband had an interview Monday and Tuesday (yes, there's a possibility that we will move back). The dogs were great, even though it's an 11.5 hours drive. They did well at the in-law's house, and the hotel!

While we were there we had to squeeze in some agility (of course) and had a GREAT time catching up with our old friends. We definitely missed them.

I won't bore you guys with ALL the videos, but here are some highlights:

Bentley is a bit rusty as he hasn't really done any courses since his injury in August. So of course, we had some handling mishaps (just not being in harmony) but he was so happy to be out there. And...miracle of all miracles, he got his 2o2o on his dogwalk. We have been working on this (retraining) for a few months now. It was great! So, if you'd like, just fast forward to 54 seconds and watch his dogwalk. I know it's slow, but we've been working so hard to get this far, that I am VERY proud! (And the teeter issue was only because this teeter is very different from the one he's been seeing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dv8yMKQ2lkc

And Lexi had an awesome weekend. She had an absolute blast. She earned Qs in Advanced Jumpers, Advanced Gamblers, and Advanced Pairs.

Here's her Jumpers run...she did make a mistake when she went around the tunnel (this is typical of her issues. If a task is too hard, she will take a shortcut. In this case, taking the tunnel meant slowing down. The angle is tougher than it looks). But she still did great!

Congrats on a "Great" weekend with your guys.Lexi is looking good.Hows here seesaw since the trial? One question when she jumps is she flattening out?It must have felt good to be with your old freinds.Great Job!!!:biggrin2:

Good questions :)

Yes, Lexi jumps flat. She jumps in extension about 99% of the time. I can get her to collect if I am there and specifically cuing it (like a threadle, for example), but other than that she is usually going as fast as she can in extension.

And I was very worried about her teeter after what happened in Standard. After the trial was over I put her back on it, and she wanted nothing to do with it. I was really upset since we worked really hard to get her over her last weird teeter phobia. I went out the next day and worked with her on it from a low height, and she had no trouble (even after I raised it back up). I'm just crossing my fingers that it stays that way.

Congrates, sounds like a fun weekend, I will hit the vid's later too busy right now. Man a 12 hr drive eeek, I havent done one of those for a long time.
Sounds like Lexi was glad to be back in the old neighbourhood and was just tearing the place up... LOL.

Sounds like a great weekend. Goodluck to your DH with his interviews!

I really enjoyed the videos . I think Bentley looked pretty good for a dog who was injured in August. Yey for the DW! Most importantly, he did look so happy to be trialing. Love is little happy dances at the end of the runs.

Lexi is on fire! It's funny how Lexi's personality often reminds me of Kyara. For example: Kyara started doing some shortcut stunts as we are learning more difficult things in agility.

Good thing she was okay with the teeter the next day.

You and Lexi looked so good in your Jumpers run! She is so fast!!! I can tell you've been really practicing distance with her. You're hardly running and she's zooming.

She definitely seemed spooked out by that teeter. I'm glad she was fine when you practiced the teeter with her at home.

Bentley definitely understood the 2o2o on the DW. Now to get him to understand that he has to do it on the a-frame and teeter as well.

Congratulations and good luck to your husband with his interviews!

Bentley looked so happy to be running again. Even with the little things. It'll come back fast. And yippee yippee yay on the dog walk contact. Slow just means he's not 100% sure, but he got it though!!! I sooo know the feeling.

And Lexi, wow, speed demon. Her Jumpers run was awesome! Even with her running around the tunnel, she just looked great out there.

Sounds like you guys had a great weekend with your friends and of course, agility. Good luck to hubby. I mean, I'd hate to see you have to move again, and yet, I'm sure it'd be nice to be with all your friends again. ;)
