Hopefully that's a light at the end of the tunnel....

Update:
The new images showed nothing new, except for the huge hernia. 😱 So Dr's insistance that there had to be some other cause of the constipation, that three different doctors could not have missed the hernia, ergo it must be fairly new, was completely wrong. So he says I guess they all missed it and it was much smaller back then. 🙄

So surgery is scheduled for May 6th. I have to keep him going until then. His poor butt is such a mess. But thats the first day the surgeon that has experience in hernias will be back in town. I don't know of another surgeon--we have very few specialty surgeons here. And these guys are the only ones Amy has referred to.
They want to do both sides at once if he is ok under anthesesia.
I don't see a choice here. We can't leave him like this. But the surgery is no guarantee to fix the problem and may in fact make the pooping situation worse...

I can't imagine how bad it hurts when he has to go potty. Yesterday was runny bloody poo all day.
My poor little guy.

Oh Margi....poor Benny and poor you!! I know the endless amount of time it seems when you have to wait for surgeries! I hope you can keep him comfortble till then and it solves the problem. It's hard to believe it won't help. I wish you could get another opinion but the situation with vets seems impossible these days. Saying lots of prayers for you and your boy the next few days.

I should clarify it might fix the problem--but it could also be any of the things listed in the discussion section I copied and pasted. I am hopeful when I see the actual surgeon he will have a better guess as to outcomes. This guy Monday is primarily orthopedic I think...This surgery center appears to have 4 or 5 certified surgeons that specialize in various things...just like a human hospital I guess.
