How does your Sheltie sleep?

Know that it is not just a puppy stage. I knew my Cleveland was gravely ill when he started it again after years of not "going on the nods." It scared me when it showed back up in him.

Now MMM still does this, so he just may not outgrow it. I love it when it is just plain tired and not wanting to miss a minute of excitement.
 
Most of the time Newton is dozing...holding his head fairly high. He just stays "on alert" and it is a bit heartbreaking. Only at night after all of the other dogs have gone to sleep does he lie all the way down for a full snooze. When I was driving back from the Southern Sheltie Gathering he slept the first hour of the journey STANDING UP wedged between Sasha and the back of the seat. I finally pushed Sasha around a bit and encouraged him to lie all the way down.

Of course, even then he popped up if I had to brake, he popped up when we passed through the smells of the fireworks (really nothing to hear, just the stink of them) and BOTH of then popped up and milled around when we drove past a skunk. There was HUGE protesting at that point.
 
That was pretty much their reaction. They were "make it stop make it stop make it stop" so I just gunned it and drove on to cleaner air.

McKinley doesn't even react any more over the smell of skunk. We have been infested with them this summer. On Wednesday Night, I have to keep MMM on a leash even inside of our fenced in back yard because we are having so much trouble with these creatures.

I am sick of them and there is nothing we can really do about them. It is illegal to fire a .22 in town, you don't want to trap them, I wouldn't dare bait them, for fear MMM would get into the bait. What to do, what to do!:uhoh::uhoh:

(I had to vent to someone and all of you are a captive audience and my friends and blame Janet, she brought up the subject!!!!!)

Awww, that is heartbreaking Janet. It's like he's on alert due to the horrible things that he probably had to contend with at the puppymill. Chandler is jumpy as heck when he hears metal clanging,whistles,people yelling on tv I always imagine a horrible man running around banging all the crates yelling at the dogs or even worse. If Chandler only spent 8 weeks there I can imagine poor Newton's fears. Poor baby I am so glad he is with you and receiving all the love he deserves.
