How long is Time Out....

I wonder how she'd handle that? I was going to say super soaker but a sprinkler would be better. I think you can even get some that are set up on motion activated.. she gets close to the fence, the water comes on..

Yes there is one, We got it to "try" and keep deer from our veggies. Here's the link from Amazon. Actually, we got at the end of the season LY and haven't set it up yet, but i heard great things about it.

Pray the neighbor moves. Where are they, when their dog is acting like this?
That is horrible that Ellie got bit, what did they say when that happened?

I had two dogs crashing under my fence, heavy gauge, now I have an aluminum fence up, they can't get through. The vet who lives two doors up got one of them, called the owner, because the one dog was very mean. I haven't seen them since.

I would discuss situation with other dog owner. What is the other dog like?
can you reintroduce them on neutral ground, possibly off leash? Dogs behave remarkably different when they off leash...
I am very proud of Che who fast developed sense of dealing with other dogs and is capable of baring his teeth and telling off some obnoxious not so well behaved dogs in the pooch park. I see as Che is growing up his desire to run and meet EVERY dog is less, he is more assertive and checks his situation more carefully and becoming more choosy who he is playing with....
active socializing with other dogs might be something you need to improve for Ellie to feel comfortable in presense of other dogs.
my 2 cents of course...

Love time out. I tend to use 10-15min if they are getting on my nerves and 5-10 for starters. I saw a Stillwell episode recently where she timed out a dog showing aggression for quite a length of time - it was either half an hour or an hour. Enough time for them to forget what the heck they were snarling at.

Both mine used to fence run, I was told it can be a sign of fear as well as territorial aggression. My vet behaviourist suggested putting a lot of obstacles in the way of the fence so they could not run along it. The idea is they have to focus on negotiating the obstacles so it puts a bit of a damper on the barking. You should see m fence lines - wheelbarrow, bags of manure and straw, clippings, although in the end I put up an inner fence line to keep them away from the back fence altogether.
