Our sheltie had a broken leg--both radius and ulna--just above the carpal joint--and the orthopedic vet specialists who screwed in a plate over the break (and then took it out!) have shaved her on one side from chest to paw: excessive, I think; but I suppose they want to minimize the risk of infection to below zero.
They also shaved her other leg for the IV--not quiet as much--but still a lot.
So how long does it take a Sheltie's coat to grow all the way back?
