How old was your dog when you added another?

My best advice would be to wait until Chase is at least 1. We've had various age configurations, but by far the most difficult was having two barely one year apart, only because we lost them both one year apart as well, and that was tough.

At the moment, Pixie is 5, Barkley and Checkers will be 4 in December (they're both from the same litter), and we'll be adding a 2-year old soon. I like the ages to be close enough that they share energy levels, but not too close that you run into the age issue all at once.
 
I personally like 3yr gaps. Gives you a chance to work on the first dog and as others said hopefully less of an issue when they get older.

I plan to have multiple dogs at 3yr intervals, so I will always have an oldie, a middie, a youngster and a puppy.
 
I have an "itching" for another dog, but will probably wait till Megan is trained. However I think I might do a different breed, but we'll see :biggrin2:
