Thanks, Ashley! I input Lerwick's info and added a blank line to compensate. :)

I didn't calculate the height-weight ratio, because I wasn't sure which way to do it. Do I divide his height by his weight, or his weight by his height? The column header was listed as h/w which would mean divide height by weight, but it seemed like most people were doing it weight by height. :confused2:

Oops...that would be my fault. Fixed that, too. :) I think Caro originally created this spreadsheet, and so the ratios are calculated automatically. I just put in the wrong header--so I fixed that and populated the calculation all the way down through the blank lines so it should calculate automatically now.

I took the liberty of inserting all the formulas back in all rows. I also put the header back at the top & froze the 1st row. I also took the median & average rows & stuck them at the bottom. Sorry, I'm an Excel/spreadsheet geek.

    Thank you.

I find it interesting that even with the range on shelties sizes on the forum that the results of the poll so far are showing a bell shaped curve.:smile2:

    Trax is somewhere between 17 7/8"(AKC) and 19"(USDAA). Maverick is 14 7/8".

I am thinking that maybe we as a group aren't a true sample of sheltie size out there.

This group of people (on the forum) is very involved with their dogs, and I would say more likely to buy from a reputable breeder who is involved with the ASSA and thus breeding to improve the standard. Yes, small and big dogs come out of these breedings regularly, but these breeders attempt to breed dogs that are in size.

That would explain why our group sees more dogs in standard than the general public. Based on the comments I (and others on this forum) get on a regular basis, the public is seeing mostly oversized shelties.

i am happy to see that in-size shelties are much easier to find nowadays. when i was a kid in-size shelties weren't really common in the pet world. most in-size shelties were in the show ring...

anyway, my dog is 16" and people tell me he is big! my childhood pets were oversize, so to me this is a small dog.

I just saw this, so, I just voted. Laddie, last time I measured him, is 11 inches, so far, he has not grown anymore, he is almost 8 months old now.
