How to keep a sheltie off the furniture?

Lucky has a rocker recliner, when dad isn't home, he loves to rock. Lucky and Lady both love the couch. They have us pinned in the bed laying on our legs.

No suggestions here. :no:
 
Danny Boy sleeps on the couch in the sunroom after throwing all pillows and quilts off of it. When I am in the kitchen cooking he sleeps on the couch or loveseat in the great room after throwing the pillows and blankets to the floor. Of course he sleeps on the bed at night after trying to throw me off of it. I get the butt in the face as he snuggles next to his dad with his face next to his on the pillow.
 
I'm too lazy to get and get my phone to take a picture, so I will describe our sofa to you for now. The sofa is an older model, PLAID, which I don't like because nothing EVER matches it but DH loves. It is covered with an official protective quilted type cover for owners with pets and has two pillows on it that I painstakingly picked out to match the UGLY PLAID sofa. These pillows were meant for us to use, but Sally lays her little head on them when she snoozes on the sofa. Right now dear ole Sally is standing on her hind legs with her front legs up on the back of the sofa looking out the bay window howling and barking and growling at the people who are out in our driveway looking to buy a car we have for sale. I HAVE NO SOFA TO CALL MY OWN !!!! :cool:

I finally discovered that you actually can train them to stay off, but you can't be whussy about it.

The dogs are allowed on my bed except when David is staying over. And of course at the cottage, they are not allowed either.

It only took a few times of hauling them off the bed when David was around when they made the connection. David at home! No bed! David away! Yipppee....and spread out!

I am sure after he is convinced it is not a monster it will become couch motocross jump section #2 :rolleyes2: I didn't order it yet as I was trying to decide if I needed the power version. I might have resisted but I tested the show version and it is sweet :biggrin2: And I need to order it since all they have is the beige one that the center does not fold down on, which is the main reason I want that one. So tomorrow we are headed back to LayZBoy to order it (8-10 weeks) So Jocu and Cran can get the new smell and Dixie can do some cuddle time (Spitfire is sleeping on my lap now)

So new couch, close proximity, dinner and a videocamera operator. Plus you get to see the Sca dog (no promises on Spitfire :hide)
 
I actually want a dog that will cuddle on the sofa, so far, it's looking like Hanna is willing :~) My last sheltie would only ever come up if I picked her up and then she'd sneak off as quick as she could and lie down by my feet. She never did use a doggie bed either - preferring tile floor followed by hardwood.

Dogs not allowed in our bed - we keep a large crate in the bedroom and train them to go in it when we say "bedtime".
 
I buy furniture that they can't hurt and I love sharing it with them. Interestingly, they aren't allowed on the furniture at my parents house and they know it and stay off.

This is the couch in my new house 30 minutes after it was delivered. You can still see the tag hanging on the right hand side....:smile2:

amazing how many folk have parents who do not allow pets on the furniture - must be a generational thing.
