How would you handle this - Daisy style?

You said the dog will jump around the arm and get to your right side. I'm assuming it'd be a blind cross of sorts?

it's hard to explain. so here is a video of the "change type". it could be closer, but I just made those 2 things, because it's soooooooooo hot here today. Usually Face needs to make some single jumps, before we start with training. she likes it soooo much to jump extended :rolleyes2:
but with this change the dogs really don't look at the tunnel at all, because they know, that they have to come around the angle.

in the video the tunnel is placed about 2 feet behind the jump (about one sheltie-length ), even if it doesn't look like that close.

I remember you telling us about this move before. At first we thought it was a Ketschker, but it's not. It reminds me a little of what I've heard called the "Backy Uppy" here, but you don't open up your shoulder inside all the way to the jump.

Thanks for setting it up--I like to see the different ways to do it!

Here is my new attempt at 1:

Actually got a nice tight turn (hence the two angles).
And 2:

Nice job Jonathan. And for HWYHT 2, that's the way she's supposed to go. Look at that tight turn. AWESOME!!! Great handling. Did you just set it up and have him run it? Or did you tell him what you did first? Just curious. Lexi is looking great too!

As for HWYHT 1, Lexi had an awesome tight turn. Granted, I think the set-up is still off. It's probably my drawing, so don't worry about it. I think you guys still did awesome. We had to set up so our dogs couldn't slice 1 at all. But I think your choice of handling it was great. Still got a tight turn, she ignored the tunnel and back off to 3 no problem.

I love these. Can't wait to see what you have from class. And aren't you happy the maps aren't my drawings?

I told him the sequence and just waited to see what he would do. That's probably what I would have done as well. I cut out the first attempt where Lexi ran straight for jump two totally ignoring Jonathan

Haha yes! Mine from class is hand drawn...it's going to be bad!

And that's what the recall to heel is for, right? Right! Ditto with Koji. It took awhile for him to STOP going to 2.

Oh goodie, my turn to laugh. :P

Okay, that's just awesome. Really. What a neat move!!! Or lack of movement? Did you train Face to just around you on a command?

Yup, I was disappointed. She basically asked what we wanted to learn about. We did say contacts, so we touched on them Sat and she said we'd do more on Sunday. Come Sunday, no one was interested in them anymore and me and another guy got out voted. Let me rephrase, she discussed his contacts a bit (which touched on my issues too), but we didn't even run the teeter at all.

This one woman, who does drop-ins in my class asked me, "is this the contact seminar you were talking about" and I said "yup". She said, "you must be disappointed that we're not doing much contacts" and I said, "I did learn some new things, but yes, very disappointed".

Are many seminars run like this? Where there's no real agenda of sorts? The only other seminar I've been to was with Laura D. and that was specific topics across 4 days. So we only worked on box work for one entire day (working spot) and did crosses another day (auditing).

I don't know if it was the person who organized it fault, or not. No clue. This is just how it went.

Daisy seminar

Any seminar I have been to we filled out what we would like to work on and this was from the person who was teaching say like Karen Holik.I was surprised that what you paid for wasn't covered all that much.Granted you learned alot on handling but is that what you paid for?I guess as long as you enjoyed it and learned alot that is what counts. Right?

I would agree and I'll let the woman who arranged this know. She needs to know that if she's advertising XYZ, then she should come up with some sort of agenda for Daisy to follow. I mean, we didn't even touch on weaves at all. And that was one thing too.

Not much I can do now, but let her know.
