I hate fleas...

One of our family member's dog had fleas. I know some don't like Avon's Skin So Soft because it has a scent and its oily. Flea shampoo was used, then the Skin So Soft. A towel was used to take the extra oil out.

I know my vets are not having luck with Frontline, dips, etc.. for fleas. We tried the Skin So Soft first to see what would happen. Killed the fleas. Then she gave her little one a bath with the flea shampoo, and the Avon product again. Then she combed through his coat. The flea eggs will be in rugs, swept the rugs often. This little one is a Yorki. Thank goodness the shelties don't have them. I'm ready if they come.

We have lots of bugs, especially spiders. Every time I open the door a moth, mosquito, potato bug, or a fly comes in un-invited. I'm itching thinking about the bugs.

I'll be ready for the skunk also, the vet has Skunk Off to eliminate the smell.

So I was just saying they didn't have seizures and I'd watch for them JIC because I used Frontline Plus on 10/18 and used K9 Advantix on 10/24.

Oh I got it, how come you did that? You didn't like the effects of the Frontline Plus?

You know whats funny? I was about to do the same thing as you. I applied Frontline plus almost a week ago and then I still saw some fleas (not any more) and Daisy was scratching so I went ahead and bought K9 Advantix since thye worked for me in the pass. I was planing on applying it on Daisy as soon as I got it but by the time I got the K9 Advntix (yesterday) there were no more fleas on Daisy but she is still scratching.

I'm just gonna save the K9 Advantix for next time. The K9 advantic is for 10 lbs so I'll use those up first since the Frontline PLus is for up to 22 lbs.
 
So growing up, my mother always told me not to mix my drugs. If one doesn't work, wait the appropriate time period, then try something else. Don't take another drug an hour later, because you never know how they might interact. I don't know where she got it from, or if she just made it up, but it seems reasonable to me. I apply this same idea to the dogs.

I feel the same, and mom had good common sense. I quess you could say the chemicals don't mix and since I am not a chemist, what do I know what you could put with what for our shelties. The humans, you made me think of Michael Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith, gosh they mixed it up and their gone.
 
I do not like chemicals period. Would not use them together. Rather keep giving bath with gentle hypoallergenic shampoo than so much chemistry.
Che brushes his neck often- his hair gets stuck in the collar. Che does not wear his collar inside.

I don't like chemicals too but I don't think you can get rid of fleas with just frequent baths, can you? I given Stich bath before and the fleas do not come off, they like had in there or something.
 
I believe, yes, you can remove fleas with frequent baths. I have no experience with dogs, but have had cats for many years. Once I was given a kitten ridden with fleas, since he was too young for any meds I just kept giving him bath every day. First day he got like 2 of them in the morning and at night- we probably got rid of 60 % of them right away, fleas do HATE water so they will climb out on any dry surface, usually it will be face and neck of a the animal. I kept running his towels/ sleeping stuff every day in washing mashine hot cycle too. Took us only few days to get it under control.
Few things to remember- fleas do not like pungent smells in the garden, fleas do not like to live on healthy animals, it is easy to control infestation if it caught early. Living in cold climate like ours where we already had hard frost helps too:smile2:
