I HOPE it's just something he got hold to in the yard

Jean, how awful for you and poor little Blaze! I am so glad you got him to the vet as quickly as you did. I'm sending prayers and good thoughts that he makes a very speedy recovery and is home with you soon. Please let us know how he is today when you can. :hugs

Poor little Blaze. Thinking of you both, and praying he recovers quickly and is back home with you very soon :hugs

Putting little Blaze on my prayer list for a speedy and complete recovery.

Note: Please continue to update us when you can. Thank you.

ps I know this is random, but I wanted to say, Blaze is a great name for a sheltie!

At 2 A.M. the emergency hospital vet called to say that Blaze had his first seizure and afterward he was pacing in his little oxygen crate. They gave him valium. Said that they hadn't been able to get a blood test off him yet. (He squirms and then is distressed, so the vet asked if I was approving of masking him to get it. Naturally said yes.) Around 6 called to say that the blood test shows no abnormality, there have been no more seizures, and he seems to be doing better. However did say that because of that one seizure he would like a neurological test.

I'll go call and visit (and pay for the extra tests). Poor little thing.

Reading about "triggers" to avoid in the other thread. Chicken was one and rosemary was another. Both show up in the food he has--breeder said he ate Purina One Puppy Food (but did mention that she feeds a lamb and rice food to her adults--know if Purina One makes a lamb and rice puppy food?) and we found a soft botanical training treat he would actually take (but since it has rosemary and some chicken fat in it, I guess that's a no as well.) I'm probably "jumping the gun" but I simply CAN'T lose him.

Jean, I hope some definitive answers can be found so that you know what the do's and don't's will be for little Blaze. This whole situation is very scary...but at least they didn't dx parvo which is one of the first things that jumps to mind when a little pup suddenly gets so ill.

Prayers continue for your little lad.

Trini :hugs

Jean, I'm so sorry you and little Blaze are going through this. I'm so glad you didn't wait to take him to the vet and he's getting the best care possible now.

I'd suggest you contact the breeder you got Blaze from and let her know what's going on. If she's ANY kind of decent breeder, she'll care about, and want to know about, issues with one of her puppies; especially one that initially had a positive check up.

Keeping you and Blaze in my thoughts.

Oh that poor little guy! I imagine you're sick with worry over him, so young and so ill. I'll be sending good thoughts his way, I pray he improves quickly.

And welcome to the forums, so glad you came and posted and decided to get him in so quickly.

Oh no! Poor puppy and poor you. I'm glad you took him in and I hope you figure out what is going on soon and he is doing better.

yikes!!!

This isn't how a puppy's life should start out, my heart aches for you both!!!! Being informed and proactive to me is always the best choice, especially when concerns and situations warrant getting as much education as possible. I am all for getting a quality food going-lots of posts to help there. Lamb is better tolerated by most of the breed. Wishing you peace and hugs!!!!
