I miss agility

I think I may join the clubs up here. Maybe get involved that way and go to local shows to help and/or work with Koji.

I was thinking that you should find some clubs to join- get some practice in, meet some people and then decide what to enter.......

No, I won't get a puppy. Miko put up with Koji, and he was 9. No way I'd do that to him now. Especially now that he's worse than he was a year ago.

Can I just play with Jocu? Maybe I need to advertise myself as a surrogate handler. LOL.

I should see what is nearby with ASCA or NADAC. Unfortunately, I think everything here is far. Or if it's closer, maybe I'll finish up Koji's MXJ title. I have to see what they offer up here that isn't 2 hours away.

come on down- Jocu would love to play with you- so long as you have cookies:winkgrin:

when you find a club- maybe you could help with handling other dogs.
my friend is running a sheltie in a trial in Oct for this older couple. they will show him in obedience and rally but someone else always runs him in agility.....

Lexi is 15 3/4". I jump her at 12", which is preferred in AKC agility. Her regular jump height would be 16". Lexi is only 5 1/2 years, but I am going to be 60 in Jan. I'm going to look into all these events. Thanks for the info. Pyper is only 14 1/2", but she has to jump 16". She has no problem with that, but I think it's asking a lot.

Nadac also has veteran handler so you can reduce jump height one more level....

Nadac does emphasize distance handling- I think Chances is the only course that requires distance handling.
I have only run in Regular, Touch N Go, Jumpers, Weavers and Tunnelers- I am right there with my dog to the best of my ability.......
we are working on more distance but we have a way to go yet:winkgrin:

Not in NADAC! I took Jordan and Maverick to a NADAC show and she was the only one that ran at all. She had the fastest times of anyone that whole weekend :wink2:

I think that must depend on the club and who enters the trials.
I started in Nadac and I have run with my dogs every time......
That's not saying that there aren't people there standing in the middle of the ring directing their dog around the course- but I have seen that at AKC trials too.
Since I can barely get my dogs to take the right thing when I am there with them, no way that I can try and get them to do something halfway across the ring:rolleyes2:

Yes but people that train and compete with NADAC exclusively, typically do train their dogs with distance training from the get-go. There are some of us that do several venues and we tend to have a different outlook, but NADAC has quite the following of people that will only do NADAC.

I guess that I don't know many people that only do one venue- whatever that may be.......

It's different depending who you train with and what area you're located in. Around here, people are mainly AKC folk with the occasional USDAA show sprinkled in. I used to know a lot of people that did both AKC and NADAC but they really seem to be much more split now with the NADAC people kinda staying to themselves. We knew very few people when we went to the NADAC show and I've been competing for 13 years now so I thought I knew most of the competitors in the area until we went to that show. We knew I think 3 or 4 people there. And it was at one of the very common agility sites.
