I went to daycare!

My mom wants me to have a day of play every week, so she went and looked at a bunch of places, and picked one. I had what they call an 'eval' today - I met three nice people who knew a lot about how to talk to me...then one of them took me away from my mom and I went to a place where there were lots of interesting things and smells, and then they started letting really mellow dogs into the place....it was a little scary but actually kind of fun! Mom says they made her go away for a couple of hours, and that she went right across the street and fiddled with a cup of coffee for nearly two hours, then came back.

I did really well! I was a little nervous, but didn't do anything bad, and it was not horrible at all - mom says I can start going back next Friday! (but only for half a day to start, because she wants me to 'take it slow')

Mom took some pictures of me in the car - I"m kind of messy and tired, but I'm happy. I sure was hungry when I got home, then I passed out on Mom's foot. I think I'll sleep pretty good tonight! - Maddie

ps - Mom was going to attach one of the pictures from the car, but couldn't figure out how. :-/

Maddie, you are indeed a brave Sheltie - but so glad you could still have fun :yes:

I certainly would have howled the whole time until my mom came back, but as soon as I could see her - as you can think, I would play with all dogs.

Was there a dog which was really good to play catch ??
That game do I love - I can namely run so fast that the other dogs can not catch me.

Maybe I should ask mom if we could both go in day care :lol:

Ps: As you can see I'm not so good at English so hope there comes another Sheltie and tells how to get a picture of you, maybe Oberon because he is always so helpful.

Gavin does not go to daycare, but is boarded at a doggie daycare facility. He sleeps for 4 days when I get home.
I don't think he naps during the day at all because there is so much to bark at there!
 
Hmmmm.....I do want to be a Premium member, but need to save some pennies first (starting up with a new dog is expensive!!)
 
Dis Oberon: I goes to daycare sometimes. It's F-U-N!!!! Yes, I miss mommy and daddy, but I knows they always come back and picks me up. And I gets to play wid all de other dogs! And runs around all day! And my mommy and daddy luvs me so much dey make sure I gets de extra safe-for-doggies ice cream treat!!!! And my cat-brudder can't go to daycare, so that's good too!
 
Spirit Joy here! I go to "daycare" with my agility trainers. I get to play with their dogs (they have 11 border collies!!!!!!) and they also give me lots of cookies. We work on agility sometimes and sometimes we take naps too. I LOVE going there and never want to go home.
 
Bailey had an amazing daycare that also boarded at a horse farm when he was a pup. We were all devastated when the woman who ran it got ill and had to close it down shortly after we got Katy. We've found some substitute options for occasional trips, but never anything with that level of care and amazing flexibility for drop off and pick up. The dogs loved it there.

The other places have been less than ideal. I still keep on the look out for something similar to that type of environment.
 
Callie here. I think I wud like day care. My Mommy and Dad work and I'm home all day by myself :(. Sometimes if Mommy and Dad go away for a few days they leave me with my grandpa and my uncle. Grandpa is old and I think he likes having me come, but he doesn't want a dog all the time. I have to be extra good when I'm at his house to not jump too hard and push him over, and I have to be careful not to get under is feet. I'm a gud girl when I'm there.
 
Piper here, I told my mommy that I want to go to one of these places too (there's this strange place she takes me to where she makes me do stuff like sitting and laying down...but I listen cause it makes her happy) but they have other doggies like me but mom said I can't go there because I'm not altered...I don't know what that means but I don't think I'd like it.
