I'm getting 2 different opinions on how to proceed with Gypsy

I would consider starting with asking for a urine test called a cortisol/creatinine. This will not confirm Cushing's, but will largely rule it out.
It is less expensive, less stressful, and could be used as a simple rule out without getting into controversies. - Dr. Mac

Thanks Dr. Mac I appreciate the suggestion it could be a good option to start.
I really have a great relationship with my vet and this could be a good place to start, I don't want him to think I don't trust him. I wasn't comfortable with the specialist's suggestion because I don't think she is combining all the symptoms I see. She may not have been given all Gypsy's symptoms
 
How rude. You know your dog better than anyone, I hate it when specialists treat people like morons. I kept getting told by the vet chiro that the only thing wrong with Deska was he was overweight. I knew there was something more, but I did have to convince several vets there was something more serious going on. And it took a few months of pushing but eventually I got proper diagnosis.
 
I would do the test and Dr. Mac had a good suggestion too at least then you would know for sure.
My Katie was drinking tons of water and I had a friend tell me it is just because it is summer and that I worry to much....well Katie had cancer and her blood calcium rates were really high which was causing her to drink more. You know your Gypsy more than any one.

My landlord had a rescue dog that had Cushing's symptoms. I finally convinced my landlord to take her to the vet. They decided to do a sonogram first, before the all-day test (I don't know what that decision was based on, I wasn't there). They found a huge tumor that was wrapped around her adrenal glands and heart. This tumor caused the Cushings-like symptoms. Obviously that didn't turn out to be a good week.

I think I later read that about half of Cushing's dogs have associated adrenal gland tumors.

I use Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital down in Laurel, they are pretty awesome.

I took Chandler to see the neurologist there when he had the spinal stroke and I was happy with them but if the specialist that recommended Gypsy get more exercise and have a diet change is from there I don't think I'd have much success in resolving her problems in this situation.

That sounds horrible. I read the same thing about adrenal gland tumors. Also thanks for the info. on your Animal hospital.
