It's been quite a bit since I've been on here, but until the heat drove me to duck and cover in the AC, I've been running around outside.
Monet is getting better. One day, he accidentally got loose when the snap on his leash came undone (I think he stepped on it). He kept running and playing around me, making big circles and grabbing the ball. I called mom to bring me chicken just in case, but I kept playing with him until finally he came over and let me get a hold of him. Thank the lord!!
He let a small child pet him the other day. That was a big step. We are taking a break from puppy classes at the moment, but will start up again in August. I need to make a concentrated effort to take him to watch. But I did take him to the dog park for one of the dog's birthday parties, and it was a wonderful socialization opportunity. I dropped the leash and let him run a bit, but I'm still worried so when he tried to run to the other end of the acre field, I ended up keeping hold. It was when he let the kid pet him.
He used to freak out when mom took him outside and saw me... acting like he didn't know me. But last night I was out to feed horses and she had him on the leash, and when he saw me he came running. Then he bolted to the side of the yard, which made me think he was freaking out again... only to see him bolt back the other way and bounce. I realized he was trying to get me to play with him like we will - I run and he chases me and I change directions frequently. At the end I kneel down and he will come running up and let me pet him. When I finished running, he did the same, even though I didn't have the leash. It was an awesome feeling. We are making progress slowly!
