Introducing Jake

I know it's abit late but, I wanted to Introduce our sheltie Jake. (i'm not sure but i think i've said something about him before but never went into detail.)

About three weeks after we lost kain, my dad brought home a little 6week old sheltie from a rescue shelter. What happened was Jake was apart of a backyard breeder's collection. The cops had found out about it after a fire at the house, and took all the dogs. My dad said the shelter people said out of 6 puppies in the litter, only three lived. But they didn't think that the other three would live long. My dad has a huge place in his heart for dogs so he got jake, hoping to save at lest one life. My brother and i are home schooled so he knew we had the time to care around the clock for jake. I'll never forget when i saw him, he was so small and shaking. The second I saw him he had me wrapped around his little paw. But the poor thing was so scared and covered in fleas and had worms, From being outside all his little life. (The shelter people had started him on worming stuff, and tried to get him a bath.) So my brother and i had to pick fleas off, using fingers and a flea comb.I was so worried about him the first night. He was so weak and small, he slept in bed with me, and i had to feed him from a bottle.
It was like that for two months, nursing both his body and soul. During that time he was never alone. he was always with me or my brother.
How that he's a year old we feel he's safe, and he's heathly. You'd never know what kind of past he had. Besides him running behide me, or someone in my family when he's scared. We are alittle worried as tomorrow will be the one year since we lost kain. But away here are the pic's.
here he is at about four months i think, with my brother.

It's so funny he'll clean them and watch them, if the cat gets close he runs it away.

Jake has showed us that with love all things are possible.:wink2: Your Dad did a wonderful thing giving Jake a loving forever home with someone to give constant attention which he knew Jake would need.:sadsmile: Your family is Jake's angel. Thank you, I hope his fellow litter mates were as fortunate.:cry:
 
Jake is a beautiful boy! Thank you so much to your family for rescuing him and giving him the love and attention that he needed and deserved.:winkgrin:

Ania: Thanks, yes he is so handsome, but i feel i was lucky to have found him. He's practically the center of my world.

ruready: Thanks so much. He's truely help me alot. thanks to him i know what i want to do with my live. I'm going to college this fall to become a vet to help all the little doggys and kitties. I plan to work with the rescue shelter so they have more vets to help.

SheltieStar:Yeah, i think he knows his lucky, when we're sick he stays with us. I was sick just two weeks ago and he never left my side. :biggrin2: It was so sweet.

Jan244: Yeah, i feel he was born to be here with us. He's just a miracle.
mcguiregirl2248: Yeah, we were afraid he'd hurt them but he didn't, he just started licking them.

elaine2004: yes he did, he shocked everyone, seeing as he was the runt. I feel he's our angel, he helped us heal after losing kain. And yeah, about his litter mates, His sister was adopted by a vet that was caring for them, She's a strong girl, she's like her brother. And his brother was adopted by a worker at the shelter, but he was very very sick, and passed away two months later. But the shelter help where all there and he was very comfortable when he passed away, and the time he was alive he was spoiled.
SuzieQ1960:Yeah, i'm so happy we did too. And we'll have our hands full, we're being home a akita/great pyrenees puppy from the same shelter we got jake from, The family that had him before left him behind after they moved. We think they couldn't take care of him anymore.
Also does anyone know if shelties have trouble with big dogs? We don't want the new dog hurting jake.

Thank you everyone for your words, i almost feel like crying, it's so sweet.
We never thought anything of saving him, it was just natural to get him. We've always loved animal so i've grown up with them and love them all.
and feel they all should have a chance at life. I know jake won't be the last one i help. It was a great experience nursing him back to health. It helped me grow as a person.
