Introduction!

Welcome to the forums, looks like you got a very handsome feller on your hands :biggrin2::yes:
In addition to your socialization which sounds awesome, I would ensure to pass him to lots of (dog savy) people all the time and walk away and have the other person reward and play with him, so that he is not always only 100% mommy focused (like some dogs I know :rolleyes2:)
 
A Belmark boy....you lucky duck. He is just stunning, beautiful markings. Will look forward to your adventures with him and of course we love pictures here on the forum.

I'm dead set on having a lovely, delightful dog who loves everyone and everything, so we've been having a lot of grand adventures socializing... everything from sitting outside a busy laundromat to meet people, to puppy play dates with friends dogs, trips in to the university to meet my fellow students, to lots of trips to Petsmart (being carried, of course).

Eventually I'd like to do agility and therapy dog work with him, as well as possibly obedience. We're going to have a herding instinct eval done in the next few weeks to see if he might like herding as well!

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I've been reading the boards, and it seems like there's a great group of people here!

Welcome aboard Alison. :smile2: My family live in Columbus, Ohio. We have 6.5 years old Sheltie Cassie. She is sooo sweet, kind and smart. We enjoy her every day.

That's actually exactly I would describe Oliver at the moment, except swap his behavior with people vs. animals. I've actually described him as a "thinker" to quite a few people.

I get the impression Ollie has a rather complex mental life (for a puppy). He's a bit serious and clearly tries very hard to understand his environment. Not in a bad sort of way, though- he's not an anxious dog. If something scary is happening, his go-to move is to just sit very still and process. You can often practically see the wheels turning in his head.

I wish Jaime would have gotten the socialization that you are giving Oliver. But again if he had I wouldn't have him.

I'm very interested to see how it influences my pup's adult temperament. Not that I can complain about how he is now- he loves everyone he meets, has never once made a peep in his crate, sleeps through the night, and snuggles with me and the kitties. :smile2:
