Westminster is week 7, so it will be the 13/14 of Feb. next year.
Is Anyone Going to Westminster?

I'm game! Especially since I live so close. I don't mind taking a day off from work or half a day.
How does westminster work? If you buy tickets off ticketmaster, do you have to stay in your seat the whole time or can you roam around?

The two times I went my girlfriend and I went and I drove into the city(in my young and braver days of driving there).Now,I take the train out of New Haven and go.Anyways, my friend and I always went on the sencond night to watch the BIS and we bought tickets at the door and we got to wander around back where all the dogs are.It was a fun day.Things may have changed since we went cause it has been along time.I just remember having a good time and shopping and talking to the different breeders.

I actually brought tix off ebay a few years back, the seller has season tix if you will so he gets to purchase the same seat every year. They were awesome seats. I never brought off ticketmaster as they were more than ebay.
Randi you can roam around all day in fact I never went to my seat until it was time for the group(8pm). They have ringside seat for the breed judging but you have to stake it out all day to get in there and sell your firstborn child lol!!

When my hubby and I went last year, we bought the one day ticket (for the day that the herding group was competing) which was good for the whole day but not the evening "big" events. With the ticket we bought (I think it was $40?) it was for general admission and we could sit anywhere we wanted.
We really liked having that flexibility since we were back and forth all day, going from the grooming and benching areas back into the arena for the various breeds competing. When it was time for the shelties, of course, we tried (and were successful) in finding seats not far from the sheltie ring. I also liked watching the bichon frisees and was able to find a seat fairly close to that ring for that competition.
To me, wandering around (in spite of the crowds) to watch all the different kinds of dogs being groomed was lots of fun. I couldn't help it--I kept thinking of the movie Best in Show and how some of the groomers and handlers were every bit as kooky as the characters in the movie! And...how many of the groomers looked just like their dogs!
It's also fun to visit all the vendors--there is everything and I mean everything there that is dog-related!
So...we had a fun-filled day at low cost, then we took the train back to my sister-in-law's house in CT and watched the evening dog show events on TV. We figured we could see the dogs in the competition much better on tv at a small fraction of the cost of an evening, reserved seat ticket!
For those who go this year, have fun!!! I'm sure you will....

Shelties are scheduled for 10:30am on Monday. the breakdown is 7 dogs and 3 bitches.
I'm all for next year! I'll just have to be sick (not too big of a strech since teachers pick up Everything the kids have this time of the year!!). I am so excited to see the backstage area, grooming, and vendors, as well as seeing the groups.
Is everyone planning on going when the herding group will be shown that day? Sharon, the train out of new haven is definitely the best way to get to the garden from CT.

I'm in for next year! As long as I have time to coordinate the kids, it is 1 1/2 hours for me to get into the city. It would be fun!

I'd really like to consider this for next year with some pre-planning....I wouldn't want to be there on my own, so if a bunch are meeting up and we make it "Sheltie-parent" party (instead of the one the boys had two years ago while I was on vacation)
