My obedience instructor has a BC that is marked exactly like Diva. Vixen is only slightly bigger as she is a puppy. They could be twins at this moment. So I could see the confusion. She also has a Bi blue BC. I told her to quit copying me.

Not a big deal to me. Smudge is so big I can understand why people think he might be a "mini collie". Before we got Gizmo we were actually looking for a collie and ended up with a sheltie. So...nah. They're usually just trying to make conversation, and they like my dog. I don't understand why that would make me mad?

However, when people ask if Fluffy is a border collie... I could understand MAYBE if she was a bi black, but Fluffy doesn't have much white on her at all. Her collar is only 3/4 of the way around her neck, and she has almost no white on her feet. More people get Fluffy's breed right than they get Smudge's right. 9 times out of 10 people will ask me if Smudge is a collie. I've only had one wrong guess on Fluffy.

I'm guilty as charged. I've stood at one end of the house, whistled, and yelled: LASSSSSSSSSIEEEEEEE!

I got a kick out of it when they both came running.

It doesn't bother me when people ask if Bailey is "a mini, mini collie, collie puppy, etc." She does look like a miniature version of a collie, so I really can't get offended. If they asked if she was a yorkie or poodle, then I would be like "are you serious?" I just correct them and say, "no, she's a sheltie or shetland sheepdog." No one has ever argued with me.

You know- I don't usually get that- mostly 'cause when I take the pups in public- I'm usually wearing a sheltie shirt that says sheltie or shetland sheepdog on it. guess that means a lot of people can actually read

mini collie does not bother me. But i used to get so so mad when Bella was a tiny thing and people would call her little fox or she looks like a fox..

I hope they don't do what my mom did once - yelled at what she thought was a dog to go home and it really was a fox.

Seriously though....Shelties do have a very wolflike/foxlike quality to them - size and expression. As the picture you attached shows.
