Itchy Skin

Salmon oil is very good providing it is from fish that were not contaminated with mercury, but that goes for any fish, not just salmon. I give mine flax seed oil emulsified in cottage cheese. They love it - it has the consistency of yogurt, and they think it is a treat.

How much Flaxseed oil do you give them.. Our boys weigh 18 and 23lbs.. Do you just by regular for humans? Also, what do you recommend to use to emulsify? Food processor, or blender?? Just curious about how much you use of each in comparison to the weight of our boys.

Also...do you give it daily??

Mine weigh 17.6 and 20.2 and I give them 1 tbln each of oil, emulsified in a ratio of 1:2 oil to cottage cheese. If it is too dry, I add a little yogurt, or water. I use a hand blender. You blend until all the oil is completely emulsified, and there is no oily residue on the container. This is also called the Budwig Protocol. It is an anti-cancer protocol. The scientist that came up with this was a German doctor. She studied this for over 50 years. I have been doing a lot of research on it myself, and have talked with many dog owners that give this to their dogs daily, as a preventative. The cottage cheese basically makes the oil water soluble, so your body absorbs it immediately upon ingestion, that way the oil does not go rancid first. Dr. Budwig, wrote an entire few books on this. (I have those too) Accoriding to her, flax seed oil is the best form of essential fatty acids, plus I don't have to worry about the mercury in fish oils.

Thank you very much Ania for getting back to me so quickly. I'm going to check into using Flaxseed instead of Salmon. Very interesting info ;-)..

How much oil did you use and what did you do? Break a vitamin E capsule open?

ShellteeGuy :smile2:

Many people get the Omega fish oil capsules and just give them to their dogs to chew on - some of them think they are treats. You can break it open and mix it in with their food. I think once a day should be enough.
