Itchy Skin

My dog also had a problem with itchy skin. Having addressed a vet, I found out that she had seborrheic dermatitis due to allergy. Because of this disorder, the skin became scaly, flaky, itchy, and red, and affected the back, face, and flanks. Since that time I've been buying Dechra MalAcetic Shampoo at Pet Pharmacy and pay attention to my dog's nutrition. She is doing fine now.

I read awhile back that dogs that are allergic to oatmeal can have a reaction to oatmeal shampoos. So if your dog does have allergies I’d avoid any shampoos with oatmeal in them just to be on the safe side.

Zymox makes a good shampoo that has the same LP3 enzyme system as their topicals which are used to treat skin or wound inflammation. You have to leave the lathered shampoo on your dog for 5 minutes for best effect.

Luke is not allergic to oatmeal but my husband is
However some of the shampoo mentioned sounds like something I would like to try on Luke
Currently I am spraying hot spots with lavender mint.he sure smells good and it seems to stop the itching

You can use betadine on the hot spots as well, just water it down a bit until it’s the colour of weak tea and dab on area. Can be bought at any pharmacy.
