It didn't for Justice either. He was very light behind the ears. His ears were darker though. It was his solid black tail that tip off that he was going to get really dark.

I agree....you can see the darker ears and tail, as a possible indication. My forever pup had alot of those, and he turned very dark by the time he had gone through all his evolutions.

I'd have to go back into Bacca's photo's....I thought he would be darker, as his early puppy fur had fairly dark "guard" hair, but he seems to be maintaining his "red sable".

Justice looks like the male version of my Meggie. Of course, that would mean I think he's beautiful!!!!!

I am scared to do Bella's ears..

Do Jasper and Bella have the same markings? is he a patch on one side?
Bella was so dark she was mahogany and she has lightened up so much, the sable is really washed out on her body but her ears are a red sable with perfectly black or mahogany trim and she has lots of again black or mahogany gaurd hairs. Her dad was mahogany ( can i use that word one more time?) sable and mom blue merle.
