Since tripe is the main ingredient for menudo, it's easy to get in the market here. But, what is green tripe? I'm guessing it might be ruminant stomach with contents??? Or, am I way off.

I knew I could count on you guys for lots of good advice and support.

When you feed chicken, do you always take the skin off? I've seen some references to removing the skin.

Now, I'm off the read the links posted.

No, I feed the whole shebang of the chicken
 
Yes, green tripe has the contents - and that is very nutritious for them.

I leave the skin on some chicken and not on others. I feed the chicks whole, so everything stays on there (I am no about to skin chicks - I draw the line there)
 
Tripe is just the stomach of any ruminant(cow, buffalo, vension, antelope, goat, sheep). No intestines.

Green tripe is tripe that has not been cleansed, bleached or scalded it often containes all of stomach contents. In other words not processed. That is the kind you want for the dogs. The supermarket kind has all the good stuff cleaned out of it.

It can be hard to find because legally bucthers can't sell it. But if you are in the known, you can get it though the back door. Also if you have a hunter friend they can save it for you from the deer. My friend got it for me. She had some home processed stuff but this last time couldn't get any so a bunch of people ordered from greentripe.com. That the 5lb chub, I need to break up.

I left the skin on from the start but I guess if your dog is having trouble adjusting you can take the skin off. Less rich that way.
 
Sounds like I need start hanging out at the back door of butcher shops. If I were in Idaho, my hunting and fishing brothers would probably keep me pretty well supplied, unless they decided to start feeding their dogs raw. :uhoh:
 
I have not been able to find any hunters yet that are willing to get tripe for me. :( They get me some meat and bones, and the heart only.
