I used to only take 1 poo bag out on a walk, until the day Cadbury did 2 massive poops within about 15 minutes of each other. The first one I had bagged and binned, the second one he did in the middle of a person's driveway. Well what was I to do? Thankfully my mum was there and found an old newspaper we could gather it in to carry it home - see how responsible we are?
Talking about dog-haters, this time of year half of the beach where I walk Cadbury becomes a 'no-dog-zone', so of course the dog walkers congregate on the remaining bit.
The other week I went there to meet a friend and her lab. I'd not met the dog before and she had warned me it was prone to jumping up and had issues with its recall (its about 10 months).
Well when she said 'jumps up' she meant 'launches itself at your back and bounces off!'
So we are walking along the beach, dogs are off lead and I had yet to experience her dogs 'jumping up'. There was a woman crouching on the shoreline taking photographs of the sea. Cadbury walks passed her and ignores her, my friend's dog goes passed and then turns and I could see what was about to happen and shouted 'no!', but the dog was oblivious and jumped up at the woman's back and nearly knocked her other, then it ran off.
In the meantime Cadbury is stood there with a ball in his mouth blithely wondering what the matter is.
The woman stands up and is not happy, Cadbury could see this and he doesn't like people to be upset and he tries to appease them. In this case he quietly walked up to the woman and offered her his ball. That is all he did and she started to shriek and flap her arms about and the more she shrieked the more he followed her and tried to give her the ball. I got close to him and called him away and the woman snapped that he should be under better control - why, because he calmly offered her his ball?
OK, so maybe she thought it was him who jumped at her, but I had half-a-mind to say if you don't like dogs why aren't you walking on the bit of beach where dogs are banned?
I mean why do people who hate dogs do that? Walk near them, or in the only places they are allowed off lead and then complain. Oh well...
