K9 Advantix vs Frontline

I am thinking of trying K9 Advantix instead of frontline Plus which I have used for a while now. I don't have a flea problem but it looks like it covers so much more like mosquitos, etc.
Anyone have any problems with K9 on shelties?

So theoretical question. If you don't have issues now, why would it be a advisable to switch to a more toxic, stronger pesticide? All that does is increase your reaction risk, and help evolve the resistant fleas many of us already see. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

To answer your question, yes, I have used it, and yes, I had a dog react. That was before I figured out that my dogs lack of fleas had nothing to do with the pesticides, and more to do with location.

you are right

You are right. He doesn't have fleas and does fine on the Frontline, although he did have Lyme Disease at his last check up. But I don't want to strengthen the medicine. I didn't think of that!
Thank you

I switched from Frontline because it quit working for me. I live on 5 acres in the hot & humid south. Our mosquitoes aren't bad at my place but we do have them & also ticks from time to time. I like that Advantix does mosquitoes & ticks. My daughter uses Frontline on 1 & Comfortis on the other of her 2 dogs that almost never go out except to potty. She is happy with those products. I've not had a reaction with any of the products but I need something that will work. Maybe down here fleas have built up a resistance to Frontline.

I've used K9 Advantix for several years. My dog kept getting fleas on Frontline. Frontline is a lot cheaper and you can buy it at Costco. I wish it worked for us.

Fontline works great for my girls (thank goodness), but then again I don't live in an area that is high risk for fleas and especially ticks. If I lived out in the country where ticks could become a problem I would give K9 a try. Plus the very cold weather here in the nothern states also helps reduce the risk in the winter time.
