Kai ate a brownie

But I can't take all the nice credit everyone has given me, for sure... Right after he ate it I took them outside just to watch and saw Kai begin getting a little worn out, but still wanting to run and play. When we came in he fell right asleep too which was odd because he usually has to go until he's overtired before he'll lay down. So I called the first vet, who told me just to watch him through the night and he'd probably be ok. So we watched him for about another hour while I did various things to check his sleep depth. For a while he was sluggish but got up for treats, then back. But when I put him down on his feet and he practically fell sideways to lay down is we found a different hospital and went.

I felt really guilty about that but you'd be amazed how much can happen in just an hour, and that doctor told us to just watch him overnight! The hospital who treated him was *wonderful*. They took him in immediately, they were very supportive and didn't even 'scold' us! They took really good care of him and even though we didn't have the $1500 that it cost they helped us out through some kind of emergency fund they use to help people in this type of situation. What a blessing.

I also want to thank the forum friend who said, "the most important dog to us is the one in our arms".

I also wanted to send prayers to Barb and Bacca, who's illness came on just around the same time and I wasn't able to check the boards to see what happened. Our prayers for continuing recovery go out to them. Thanks again for all the support, it means so much.

How is Kai today? Bouncing around?

I'm so glad that they were so helpful and told you about the emergency fund. My vet has that as well and will usually work with me if it's a situation that is completly unexpected.

I'm glad that he is doing better!!
 
Glad everything turned out. Very expensive brownie though. I know with Panda she is chewing on everything she can find in the garden and is driving me crazy worrying about what might be a problem for her. $1500.00 ouch!

(Well him and Laika anyways - although I am sure he probably got it down for them) He was absolutely fine, his stomach didn't even get to upset. Wow, the exact same thing happened to my collie dog when my then-boyfriend gave me a box of chocolates for my V-day. I still can't believe she didn't even throw up...(we called the vet and he said that if she didn't have a rxn we didn't need to bring her in.)

I wonder if it has to do with the cheap, low-cacao chocolate that candy-bar manufacturers make these days...

Chris is so funny she comes up with some of the funniest things to make light of a difficult situation.:lol:
