If I had listened to my vets original advice I would have embarked on much more instrusive measures for Bacca's liver "condition". We finally settled on better diet control and this seems to be working for him. As it seems to be working for you.
As I think Chris said early in this post....think upon this as chronic, not fatal. It can be managed.
Thanks Barb.
It's hard not to think "fatal" as that's where it eventually will lead to. However, I hear lots of stories of dogs dying....but not from their chronic kidney failure, but just other "getting older" things. I can just hope Miko has a long happy life. So far, it's been 13.5 years.
I am almost done with my research on homemade food. I wish I could feed something as simple as Now, like the direction you went. It'd be sooooo much easier. lol. Versus, all these supplements and yucky food.
Soon enough, I think Koji will be jealous of Miko's food. Koji will be on kibble while Miko will be eating partial raw/partial homecooked food. Maybe I'll toss some raw stuff his way though, just so he won't attack Miko's food. lol.
It's hard though. I just want him healthy and normal.
