known herding lines

Correct, the herding exposure would not wind her up more, and the nipping heals is a seperate behavior that while can show evidence of herding interest, it is not wanted.

No, I understand what you're saying. We channel her energy by playing with a frisbee. She loves it and totally wears her out. :smile2:

Oh that's cool! I love watching dogs with the Frisbee. Mine just don't get into it. They'll chase a ball, but no Frisbee drive there. I kind of wish they did, because we'll throw one in the summer, sometimes. It's fascinating to watch the disc dog competitions. I can't see me doing that, but the occasional playing with one in the backyard would be fun.:smile2:

I don't have any intention of getting her on sheep or ducks (although it would be fun). I don't want to wind her up anymore than she gets now and I also don't want her to think it's ok to nip heels and nearly trip us when we walk. :smile2:

Sorry this is late... just got in from an agility trial. The herding would actually help to calm the dog DOWN some. Shelties NEED A JOB. BADLY. They are much better behaved when they have something to do with all of that energy.

That's why Mr. Frisbee invented that little flying disc! LOL! Works like a charm for Ellie. :smile2:
