Ladies and Gentlemen . . . Meet Cricket and Riley

Photos aren't boring! Pictures are GREAT, thank you! They look so happy together! Has Riley settled in, or is he still having some "missing my mommy and sibs" behaviors?

Riley is adapting very well, but I think it's going to be quite a while before he's COMPLETELY at home here and not missing first family. After all - 8 brothers and sisters, Mom, Dad, Sasha, Indy and his loving human family - that's a whole lotta family to leave. Paul and I (with Cricket's help) are sure that we can hold a special place in Riley's heart.

I don't know if you ever noticed it, but Riley has a special look - sometimes, he seems to be a little old man, with the wisdom and weight of the world on his shoulders. I find myself talking to him for long periods and he seems to listen and understand.

And when Cricket wants to play - Riley just seems to roll his eyes and then sits on her til she calms down - now, THAT'S intelligence!

The pictures are terrific, thank you for sharing them with us! We are all having withdrawal from the Granite Puppy Brood. It's wonderful to see them going to great homes, and Riley and Cricket look like they'll be good friends. They are both so cute together. Keep the updates coming, please!

Paul and I just got back from Petsmart where we signed Riley and Cricket up for Puppy Classes starting next Sunday, the 5th at 4:00. We had a long conversation with the trainer, Jackie, and she gave us some of the particulars involved in the classes. I'm looking forward to it - let's hope the puppies enjoy it too. After all, this IS for them, RIGHT!?!

These two have taught us quite a bit. Cricket shows constantly (poor Riley) what a little DIVA she is - BUT Riley proves that patiance and ignoring certain action will drive a DIVA up a wall!!!!! (Works every time - as I said - we learn a lot from them)

Great pictures HunneyD! They should enjoy the puppy classes as socialization is a big part of the class as well as basic obedience commands. Which means TREATS TREATS TREATS and of course they love those. If they didn't already recommend this to you, be sure that the pups are not full or they aren't as interested in learning for treats.

As I looked over the latest pictures that I posted today, I saw one that at first made me smile - then I GASPED!!!! It's the picture of Riley and Cricket sleeping in the same crate. It hit me that everyone that saw that picture might think that is the "sleeping arrangements" here - - absolutely NOT. Riley and Cricket each have a crate of their own - it's just that afternoon naps usually turn out to be "sleep where you fall". These two play very hard and being as close as they are, well, they just don't like to be separated, even in sleep. Nighttime is the only time I can get them to accept sleeping in their own crates. Whew! Now I feel better. Sorry about that guys!!!

HunneyD I didn't even blink looking at the picture of two pups in the crate....if you had seen all the sleeping choices I've seen over the past 9 weeks, you'd just laugh. This afternoon Angus decided to sleep in the little hollow made by the leg of a tray table (about 6" x 8" x 12" area) with his head cushioned by a relatively killed toy rabbit (i.e. fur outside and all the inside stuffins pulled out). Also, when all the pups were together they tended to sleep in a huge pile and were very fond of all sleeping in a box flat right up to the point that they were absolutely too big to fit in there anymore.

I call this picture "puppy lasagna"
