Liam's 2nd puppy class!

Fantastic news Gloria that Liam did so well! You definitely need a VERY high value reward at obedience when they're young, I remember with Piper I used kubassa (I didn't do all the cookie and treat baking then like I do now lol. I also make jerky for the dogs (ground chicken or turkey is best...lean meat.) I use a jerky gun (looks sorta like a caulking gun) and make ribbons of meat onto a cookie sheet. I sometimes add garlic powder or cheese...whatever will up the smell, then I bake it for about 10 minutes or so (until it's cooked but not hard...so it can be torn into small pieces). I try not to use too much processed food that can mess with their wee tummies. I love my jerky gun for making treats for the dogs...sometimes I will dehydrate the meat after its cooked. I store it in the freezer and take pieces out as I need them.

poor Cran- he got kibble in his puppy class:rolleyes2::pop

Poor Cran indeed! He'd be super jealous if he saw Piper getting his liver and apple pie filling treats (one batch will last me well over a month, if not more...keep in mind I just managed to get Piper to lose 2 1/2 pounds over the last 7 months...he's not gaining it back!)
Piper would never have taken kibble in class, he didn't even like to eat it at home lol!

Fortunately, I do not get a bad conscience :biggrin2:

- All my dogs have always been trained with their kibble :wink2:

- only when we trained "tracks" there was a bit of delicious for the end of this.

You n vet cease to amaze me with your cooking skills! Piper, Riley and Finnie sure have it good in your home!

You are so right... they need the highest value treats at class... so much to see, smell and hear! Their attention span is so short too!

He got his last puppy vaccinations yesterday and his first flu shot! After a week I can get him walking around the neighborhood and take him more places!!

It's a great milestone when they are done with vax and can be out and about. I think you'll watch him blossom. Keep updating with his progress! And, we also use the lamb - someone told me the turkey one was a bit weird. If you cut it up small it will last you a long time.
