long face question

I have just read this and people do come out with some funny things.
Yogi is my sable and he does have a big 'orange' coat. Three times little children have called out to their parents "Look, it's a LION!" I don't mind but it's rather odd, particuarly as he is only 14.5" and one occasion was at a safari park where they had lions

Did someine say long snouts?

Awwww. What a cutie. Chandler has a much longer nose than Gypsy. Just like your profile pic. Gypsy's face is very petite with a shorter snout.
People are always asking me if Chandler is a collie but the one that always gets me about Gypsy is Wow how old is she? She has so much gray hair, she must be really old. Are you kidding me?:confused2:What planet are you from, she's blue merle. That's her coloring.

Ha Ha I've gotten that one about Ember several times. Makes me laugh inwardly every time.

^ This is my dog, Euclid. I would say he is about 2-3 inches taller than the breed standard, and also has a longer nose. I had one person tell me I didn't know what I bought, I bought a Collie. He's had Shelties, and my dog isn't a sheltie. This dog has a pedigree and is in fact, a sheltie. He has a couple defects, no full collar, but the parents were show dogs. So, like others have stated, just because it doesn't fall perfectly in the "breed" standards, doesn't mean it isn't a sheltie. Just like humans, there might be a "breed" standard, but there will always be an outlier in regards to the standard. Some more tall, some more short, etc. As long as you didn't buy you dog as a show dog, it's all good. They are supposed to be companions and bring you joy. As long as it does that, you have the right dog :)

I've learned not to worry too much about what others say. Euclid is beautiful. My angel Bailey was an oversized rescue Sheltie we got as a puppy. His owners surrendered him with papers so we know he was a purebred Sheltie.

People constantly commented on our mini collie. If I was in the mood I'd educate if not I'd let it go. Some don't want to know.

I would never turn down an oversized Sheltie that was healthy and good tempered. My boy was amazing.

I've want a blue melee some day the coloring is striking.

Thank You!

I agree. Even though my dog is not up to "standards" I could care less. He's been such a fantastic dog, so cute, so well mannered, that I would never even wish of any other dog taking place of him.

Agreed!

When you are a fan of Shelties, all of them are cute :D! My first Sheltie was a light coat. My 2nd one is a dark coat.

At first, I didn't REALLY like it. But, it grew on me. Now, I would take a Sheltie in ANY color. Such fantastic dogs!
