Sadly, Shelties aren't really known for their phenotypic consistency... in other words, there's a lot of variation that can occur: small to tall, all kinds of heads... (much to the frustration of those trying to breed to the Standard).

Your girl is, in all possible likelihood, all-Sheltie. Besides, I don't really think the average man-on-the-street is going to know enough about Collie/Sheltie breed type to be able to make any pronouncements of purity. I'm sure people with the tall Shelties get the "Hey, must be part-Collie!" comment all the time. :rolleyes2: People just don't know what they're talking about.

Your little dog is darling and then some - thank you for sharing pics!

Granite is so right. Those gangly teenage pups grow everything out of proportion.

I get asked if Tully is a mini sheltie as often as I get asked if Deska is a mini collie. People are very surprised Shelties are so diverse in shape and size and colour, I think that's why it gets so confusing - and everyone knows 'lassie' collies of course.

My ears are too big:

My snout is too long:

I'm a bit overweight (Gizmo):

I don't look like a sheltie puppy:

If it's your dog then who cares what other people think? If you like your dog/puppy then that's all that matters.

both of my shelties have long collie heads.
