Loose stool

I think I posted this is in the "constipation" thread and a mod moved it. If it's going to be moved, maybe a mod should move it to the 'Loose Stools" thread created by my wife?
 
I honestly wouldn't get concerned until he has gone a couple of days without passing any stool at all. His body is getting used to a totally new diet, one that has less "fillers" than commercial dog food and it is going to change his elimination schedule.

When my Pixie was changed from a kibble/canned dog food diet to a 100% home cooked diet she went from 2-3 poops every day, to a couple of days with no poops at all as her body got used to the new food, and now has settled to a one poop a day routine.

When they stop eating, you try anything and everything to stimulate their appetite. We would go the the store and shop for foods Cody might like. Put everything we had under his nose, rice cakes! he ate it! It may last a day or two, and try something else. Does not sound like your to that point yet, but I know what you are going through. I would not get to concerned just yet. As long as he is eating, drinking, happy, and holding it down, nature will take it's course. If any of that changes, call the vet. Probably adjusting to the new diet. Last time Zulu had a bout with loose stools, he went a day and a half without a BM. Just about the time I decided to take him to the vet, it happened.

Sorry yes, that was a quick catch, usually nothing happens in the middle of my day - you guys should go to bed. I was closing the other thread down as it's so old. I'll merge the two threads.
 
Jumped the gun a bit. Fasb had a bm tonight after dinner. Still very soft though. Not as watery, though. More the consistency of pudding. Ugh. Not sure if that's progress or not.

He seems perfectly fine otherwise, so I'm going to hold off calling the vet for a couple days unless he starts acting ill or something. Fairly confident that it's the diet changes, coupled with eating "junk" food last weekend when we couldn't get him to eat.

We've done our share of that recently. He seems to quite like chicken, beef, etc., so I'm hoping that motivates him for awhile. He's not as keen on rice and pumpkin, but he's eaten the little bit I've given him so far.

In case anyone is wondering, this post from my wife refers to "her wife" because I was using a computer mostly used by her and I failed to notice I was posting under her screen name, not my own. Oops. Not used to both of us posting here.
 
Had an accident this morning. Same thing as has been going on for a few days now. Seems fine, but bowel movements aren't right. This morning's was basically formless, a dark brown pudding. Seems fine right now. No other signs to indicate he's particularly ill.

We gave him beef Wed night and yesterday. Out of chicken (we have chicken for today). Keep him on chicken and a bit of pumpkin to harden stool? Is that a plan?

I'm going to call the vet later this morning, but I'd like to give it a few more days before I run him in since he doesn't appear to be ill.

Dunno. Not sure what to do. Not too worried (it's almost certainly food-related), but I don't want him feeling poorly either.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Edit: Ok, thinking about it, it may just be a lack of fiber. He's eating mostly meat for his meals. Not too interested in veggies. What should I be trying to get him to eat? Pumpkin and maybe rice?

Our vet thinks it's probably dietary. Suggested we try to firm up the stool before we bring him in. His behavior and disposition are normal, so I'm hoping he doesn't feel too bad.

We fed him some grains this morning to get some fiber in him - foods he's used to. Did give him some chicken but not as much. He really didn't want pumpkin. Got a tiny bit in him but nothing more. If I put pumpkin on the chkicken, he seems less interested. KInda think we won't get too far with pumpkin.

I'd like to try rice, but I'm not sure he'll eat it. Not doing to well with veggies either so far.
