So I spoke to the vet today (bad timing too, I was working grrr) and the radiologist said there is definitely something going on with the liver but would only say that it's abnormal (we already knew that lol) but it turns out it's not Riley's legs it's his back. He couldn't say for sure but he noticed something between the L4 and L5 either an old injury where he had a fracture and arthritis set in or cancer....
Obviously I'm not going to think cancer, so I'll concentrate on trying to make the pain more manageable.
Thinking back to when he may have injured it I remembered a couple of times where he flew down the stairs and wiped out on the linoleum (last time was about 3 years ago). He'd hurt his hind leg the last time and it's conceivable he'd also hurt his back but was on Metacam and it could've healed.
Then, in July he jumped off the grooming table when I reached behind me to grab a brush (table is roughly counter height) and landed with a thud. It was perhaps a month later when he started to slow down a bit. Of course this is me rationalizing why it's not cancer...
The vet has prescribed gabapentin, she said yes to the CBD oil and yes to the green lipped mussel and the joint formula. Basically said to try everything as we don't want him to be on the gabapentin for long, just to get over the hump.
Also got the name of a vet who is a pet nutritionist so I'll give her a call.
Fingers crossed that we see a relief with all this, CBD should arrive by Monday.
