Lyme?

shooot... looks like i'm in the infected area.. i think :S i have never had any ticks on any of my dogs i dunno maybe i was just lucky but we also are careful about where they are, they are either in the yard or walking on the road... the field i would never go into theres too many creepy crawlies.. and YIKES spiders yuck

I'm in Ottawa and until last summer, never had a tick on my dog. I just happened to bring the boys in for their shots after a weekend at the cottage in the St. Lawrence and the vet found one lodged in the corner of Bacca's eye. After that she put the boys on K9 Advantix.

Last week I found something attached to Bacca - not a deer tick...it was much larger and greenish in colour, but it looked tick like. I freaked and gave them their dose a week early.

I've never had a flea since I've owned dogs. I can't stand the thought of critters in my house and on my dogs!

i had a tick on me once when i was about 4, it was because i went romping through our back fields tho and my dad got it out no problem, but ever since that day we don't take the dogs back there and we ourselves dont go back there unless we have socks with pant legs tucked in. Like everyone has sai i'm now seeing it has to do with location. I do daily checks on Riley i know he has a bump on his tail ever since i got him so that ones okay and so far no other bumps have appeared, he also gets brushed twice a day, and had a bath a week ago so hopefully no little critters come into my house because they wont last long

Oh, and can I just say we should be happy to have Shelties and not terriers. Well, for a lot of reasons. :smile2: But specifically one. My mom secretaried an Earthdog trial once out on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Since it was mothers day, my dad and I showed up and surprised her. Anyway, on the table were multiple roles of duct tape. I asked what they could possibly use that much duct tape for at an Earthdog trial. Turns out... wait for it... they use it to tape over their pants and socks to keep the ticks out. So much for my desire to go down to the tunnels and watch. Ahhh!! Gross!!
