MACH question

Mach

Hey there Rachael! Heather and Trax and Maverick here :)

I'm always amazed at how fast some people get their MACH and yet it takes me a year to get one Q ;)

I wanted to go for MACH 2 with Shadow but because of the economy I do not see that happening. Almost got a QQ this weekend with him.I am going to concentrate on Sting now and let my boy have fun.My freind Chris is working on MACH 22 with her sheltie Kevin who is almost 13.She already has MACH 1 working on MACH 2 with her young 2 yr old shletie Darin and MACH 6 with her BC.

I had forgotten about Kevin's MACH 22 at 13 yo. That's so awesome. My hubby was asking me how much longer Koji's agility career will last....should I tell him at least another 10? lol.

I finally read the AKC Agility rules. My gawd, that is NOT something fun to read. I wanted to find out how each level worked (Open, ExA, ExB, etc). I like that I can still drop bars and Q, although, that's a Koji rarity.
I also like....very much, that I can start accumulating points as soon as I hit ExB (regardless if I'm there only for JWW).

And, it looks like I have until July 1, 2011 before the new rules take effect, which means, they'll still be awarding 2x and 1.5x the points for 1st and 2nd place.

And by looking at the speed in which they expect a dog to run an ExB course, we'll come in under time, but I really need to up his speed on the dog walk. cuz he's slow on that.
I'm excited. My overall goal is a MACH for Koji. I think we can do it! And yes, I will definitely rack up my points first. 750? Yikes. Do they get tracked in the MyAKC thingy? Or do I need to track it myself?

AKC keeps track of your points but you can also.If you drop a bar in AKC that is considered a failure and no Q unless it is Fast you are talking about.

A dropped bar is an NQ at all levels. It's considered a Failure to Perform, just like blowing a contact.

They will track both double-q's and points in MyAKC, so no spreadsheets required. :smile2:

Hmmm...maybe I read the rules wrong. in ExA, it says you need a score of 85, but you can't have any off-course, refusals, and some other things. What can you have in ExA?

I would assume ExB you need to be 100% clean. No faults anywhere on anything.

Not sure what the heck I'm talking about. :rolleyes2:

And yay. I don't need to track it. How fast do they update it? If it's as slow as their regular "process time" (4 weeks?), I may just do my own spreadsheet to see watch my progress.

I definitely am not going to "push" him for it to get it faster, but it'll be fun to watch how slowly it takes him to get into Standard. lol. I guess how often I trial matters too. Hmmm....hubby needs to find a job, PRONTO!

A knocked bar in Fast is not considered afailure. They dont count unless they have changed the rules recently

You can have time faults. 3pts off for every second over course time, so you can Q with 5 seconds over. I know because my poor Smokey depended on those extra 5 seconds in every run when he got his AX and AXJ ;)
