We had a rescue whom we adopted knowing he had Epilepsy. Unfortunately he was only with us for 15 months before he passed. Based on what we know, we believe his previous owner gave him alcohol and severely damaged his liver.
He was fairly well controlled on PB till the last 4 months or so.
Anyway, I did a lot of research over the year Toby was with us. There is a site called Epi Guardian Angels
http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com/. There is a huge wealth of information on epilepsy. While your baby is on PB, make sure to have his liver values checked quarterly as it can affect the liver.
We did DMG in Toby's food. Im not sure if it made a difference but it also helps protect the liver, so I don't think it hurts. We used the Vetri-Science drops. They are cheapest on Amazon and available through their subscribe and save program.
One of the most important things you can do is start giving milk thistle. Again, vetri science has a liver support treat that has milk thistle in addition to some other great ingredients.
We also used EaseSure by Pet Alive. It's a homeopathic formula that is supposed to help ease the nervous system. Some people have reported success in just using that to stop the seizures. Again, I'm not sure how much it helped, but there are a lot of success stories with it's use floating around.
If your baby has any anxiety, I really like the bach's pet rescue remedy. We used to use it after Toby's seizure to help him recover. He also would get very focused and almost angry (usually the day of when he'd have a seizure). We would give him some drops to calm him down and that seemed to help.
Also, I stumbled upon this on the epi guardians site, but if you put an iceback on your baby's back (if you imagine a horse, where the saddle would go), you can end the seizure sooner. Toby's seizures were over 2 minutes when we first brought him home. We got them down to a matter of seconds. Sometimes if you can catch it early enough, I think the ice actually prevented his seizures a few times.
As far as blindness, just try not to move furniture around or make big changes. When I was a child, my parents Pekinese was blind and my grandparent's poodle went blind as a senior. Both dogs did really well with it. If you have a 2 story home, just make sure to gate of stairways to prevent falls. Otherwise, dogs are remarkably smart and will do just fine.
Your little girl is in my prayers! It sounds like she has a great mom! I hope some of my ideas are helpful to you.
