Male dog completely obsessed with female in heat

Thanks all for the responses, it seems I have to lower my expectations of him functioning normally in this situation at this time :o I guess I just don't understand why some dogs are fine in this type of environment (his full brother was also at the agility class and you would never know there was a BIS, he was just fine?) I do of course wish there were no dogs in heat when I am taking a class I paid for, and it stinks to have that major distraction, but I don't feel because I have an intact dog the BIS has to miss a few classes for the same reason.
Oh well, we will get through it! It has been an incredible learning experience raising/training him, but we are figuring it out:winkgrin: I may not post often here but I read a lot and you all are so very helpful!
I am very comfortable and confident in my decision to wait to neuter, I am completely responsible and able to handle my dog without an unplanned pregnancy. And of course, there is not even a slight possibility of me choosing to breed him. I understand no one knows me at all, so you'll have to take my word for it, but just wanted to put that out there :wink2:
 
Nah, I do believe you can proof for that.
I am sure by accident or whatever there are sometimes similar smells at trials and shows, etc
But you can't expect him to be learning agility at the same time as you're introducing that distraction, which is probably one of the biggest ever lol

a lot of impulse control games, it's your choice, reward reward reward for NOT loosing his mind, lol, start at the furthest distanc he CAN handle and gradually go closer, etc
But it has to be built up to that before you can expect him to be able to leave it alone and focus on you
