now that i have slept on it I can find what happened funny. :smile2:

My 9 year old come running down the stairs yelling mom he peed on the bed and me, its too gross!

me: Who? Max?

Zach: NO! Dusty peed on me I have to take a bath its gross.

As of now I am acting like he is a puppy again. Limited access to rooms and puppy line put back on, crated or outside when i am busy.

Now I have to figure out what we are going to do once my son starts taking him to 4-h in March. The dogs are not allowed to pee in the ring and I have this feeling that with all the other dogs around he is going to want to mark everything.

Well I feel sorry for your son,that is not the way to be waking up for sure.I have never had the problem with marking here.

But I have a neighbor that sometimes comes here with her intact terrier mix,and that frippin dog lifts his leg on my corners of furniture every time he comes here.And she is oblivious to it.

Don't know why she never had him fixed,but I had to kindly tell her that if he came here again,when she visits,he will be left on the sunporch,or he needs to be tethered to her by his leash at all times.

I hated doing that,but she is one of these people that does not correct her dog,nor has any knowledge to correcting bad behavior of her dog.

A friend of mine came over last night for a gift exchange and her pug immediately ran over to our tree and peed on all the presents. I was NOT impressed and my husband even less so. :uhoh:

My dh and I pretended like it was no big deal and I thanked him for taking it so well while she was there. She was mortified. I think we'll stick to visiting them, my girls have never been a problem, and Ginny is just a puppy.

You guys are scaring me about thinking of getting a male pup when we're ready. I thought since Meggie is a girl it would be easier to bring a boy into the house, but I'd be mortified if he marked on my furniture!

Jessica, your poor son. Can he laugh about it today too??

I've not had any experience with un-neutered males, but my parent's male has NEVER had trouble with marking in the house.

My friend's pug wasn't neutered till he was over 2 years old and never received proper training as a pup. He still gets away with a lot since now he is older and his health isn't the best, she feels sorry for him and doesn't always dicipline him. He's also a dog that insists on marking everything resembling a tree outside, so thinks its ok marking trees inside too (our tree is real this year). She later told me that she'd stopped getting a real tree because he marked it, rather than train him out of it.

My friend's other dog is also a neutered male. He wasn't neutered till he was older but never had trouble with marking indoors. He is actually her boyfriends dog and his dogs are much more well behaved. They would never dream of peeing indoors.

OntarioSheltie, so what you're saying here is I wouldn't have this problem with a neutered male, is that correct? If so, then we'd be okay because I would have the pup neutered for sure.

You probably wouldn't have a probaby with a unneutered male either. As long as you train them that it isn't OK to mark. My cedar never marked. Once he lifted his leg to go on my MILs couch and growled and he immediately through his leg down and ran to the door to go out. I did not neuter him until he was 6 years old....and I had him from a puppy.
