This is a funny thread!! I thought Sandstorms butt was big!!
I thought Sandstorms butt was big, but listening to all of you I just don't know now!!
Sandstorms breeder told us that she feeds her dogs nutro-natural because it keeps the coat silky instead of coarse. We are feeding nutro-natural puppy lamb and rice, and Sandstorms coat is very silky. Our Shepherds coat was coarse, we also fed her Iams. The breeder said if we did that the sheltie coat would become coarser- due to the protein. Does the silkier coat help ease the brushing do you all think?

From experience, that that type of coat is harder to maintain(ie needs more brushing) and mats more easily. It also collects burrs and debris more easily. Blues also tend to have softer coats. Nutro natural and Iams had about the same protein content so while diet can play a role in coat texture, a bigger factor is genetics and coat conditioning.
