Meeting a wolf

On Saturday we visited the international dog show in Mlada Boleslav, CZ. Shelties were all great as usual, there were offered tons of collars, leads, dog food etc. I bought 2 bags of treat and a Sheltie calender. After the show we went to the river nearby and there we met different dogs and some wolves :wink2:

This is the photo story of Perry and the wolf. Watch especially our "hero" :biggrin2::

Life was fun...

Until a wolf appeared...

Perry here - Oh, Jesus! A wolf. It's definitely going to eat us up!

Sofie, what are you doing?!

Mom! It's great you are with me, isn't it?

Here are some more non-wolf(dog) pics:

Never been to Shetland Islands but this is how I imagine it.

Everything is more interesting than looking into the camera :wink2:

There were some people with 3 wolfdogs and this is one of them. I don't know them personally though. These wolfdogs already are a FCI acknowledged breed but they were bred by crossing the GSD and the Carpatian wolf so there is still about 5% wolf blood in their pedigree. Some of them really look like wolves. So they are very original, quite vocal and they could be a bit intense - it was better to have Perry by my side. But they were all nice.

Sounds like a really dumb idea, but I bet they are gorgeous!!!!!
A lot of people up north here have bred hybrids and I think it is a shameful practice, but oh my some gorgeous dogs

Beautiful pictures and I think Perry has the right idea, go run and leave the terrier deal with the wolves, LOL

Well yeah... This idea originates from the communist border guard in the Fifties. They wanted to create a super working dog that would be obedient like a GSD but would have the senses and endurance of a wolf. This purpose failed though, because the wolfdogs were rather timid and hard to educate. So the border guard didn't really use them but the breeders continued breeding the wolfdogs and today they are still a bit special but actually very nice and friendly. They are very popular with people who loves nature and want to go "back to the roots".

If you are interested here is a well written article about the CS Wolfdog:

IMHO they look gorgeous but they have a too complicated character. I want a dog that loves me as I am, not a dog I would have to deserve to be its mom. That's why I have a Sheltie

Yep, dumb idea, and sounds just as bad as I thought it would!! But it was a fair article tho, you're right. Thanks for sharing!
They are absolutely gorgeous that's for sure, even if I would call it a failed experiment!
Perry got it right, everyone run lollll
