Minor wound care ideas?

Melli scraped the side of her paw (near where the dew claw would be) running into the bottom of the gate by the goats so now I am in the outsmart-her phase to heal.

So far, everything topical from nasty tasting to soothing she licks off and keeps right on licking. Vetwrap drives her insane, gauze and tape drives her insane, those lick strips drove her insane. (we have unhappy foot issues apparently)

This leaves me down to either the cone of shame or the best thing I have found is her rain slicker. Tends to block direct access to paw but not good enough to leave her alone or get a good night's sleep without checking on her. She can get to it but tends mostly to not. She even wags her tail when the slicker is put on and ducks right into it. Wondering if this has been tried on her before!

Any other ideas out there? Thanks.
 
Wow! Sounds like you've tried everything. I say just keep an eye on the wound and if it doesn't look like it's healing take her to your vet right away. My guys have suffered minor scrapes from tussling and do a running leap onto our stone patio (and not quite making it). They've all healed quickly. Good luck!
 
Was one of the topicals you tried, Zymox spray? I have had good luck with that not being licked and it does a super job on healing.

I would use the cone over her head, soak the foot to make sure it is really clean, and use an antibiotic ointment. If she bumps it every time she walks, I would keep her crated until it is looking like it is healing. Otherwise, it will become an ongoing problem.
 
If you can find it in your area, look for Vetericyn. This is the best wound care ever! But a cone may still be required if she continues to lick.....
 
yup agree with Connie, clean, cone of shame and wrap and protect. My aunts Golden punctured his foot a few years ago..10 weeks to get it healed!! What a pain..did I mention I watched him for 2 of those 10 weeks!!!!!!!!:gaah
 
We turned the tide with Biocaine and I kept her in her rain slicker for 2 weeks (taking it off when I was watching her -- helps I work from home). By 3 weeks she was leaving it alone and we healed. Took a couple more weeks for me to stop waking up in the middle of the night saying "No licking" as I startled awake.
