Missy's last day was Monday

It's normal to second guess. I will never forget being in the room with my last sheltie when I put her down. The way she gently licked my hand as though to say good bye and her last moment. It was soul crushing. But with time the pain will dull. You must believe that. We all know how hard this is. You will get through it. When your heart aches let the love you felt for her comfort you. Take care.

I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet Missy.

Even though it hurts so much and the grief is almost unbearable,

I have also always thought I would never forgive myself
- if I have not given my dogs peace in good time
so they do not suffer unnecessarily !
 
I am so sorry for your loss. It is always heartbreaking for us to have to make that choice for them. But she is at peace. As said above, maybe she knew you were gifting her. I hope your heart heals. She gifted you with good memories of your last hours together.

Your sweet Missy is at peace and you gave her that gift when it was time. No death is easy to cope with but some dogs claim a bigger piece of our hearts and their passing is SO devastating...it sounds like your Missy was that heart dog for you. I am so deeply sorry for your loss but I hope you know that you did everything for Missy to keep her comfortable for as long as possible and when she could no longer have quality of life you did what had to be done. There is no greater love than that.
