BTW both my girls were demons as puppies. My boys all were 1000x easier.

Strange... My mother tells her friends that her son was a million times easier to raise than her daughter (me). Lol.

In all seriousness, thank you all for the ideas. Jasmine is very loving and she has that Sheltie "melting" look down pat. The looks she gives me when I reprimand her just slay me. With laughter. She really wants to be a good girl, she just doesn't want to do it my way.

I know it is difficult but completely ignore her when it is time to settle down. I know if Shelby gets in a "needy" mood when it is time to settle we just ignore her completely and then she realizes she is not going to get any attention and then she will go lay down or chew a bone. I know they can be very,very,very persistent but you must outlast them.

We were taught in class to reward when they are doing what we want them to do. So when she is settled then pet her, talk to her, play with her etc. This will help teach her that "settling" gets your attention, and bugging you gets no attention.

Ignore is a good thing! Good post.

Raises hand. Lacey has turned into a monster at 5.5 months old too! This morning she dragged in a huge clod of dirt and grass, made a mess all over the house with it. Would not listen at all when told to drop it. UGH. I HATE teenagers.

It might help to try the "trade" route until she is more willing to let go of any "treasure" on command. If you offer her something of more interest, then she is not simply giving up something she is having fun with for "no fun".

I have done that with her and it does work, but at 6:00 when you are half asleep your mind does not function that well.

Missy was a terrible puppy. Not super destructive, but incredibly active and demanding. She also went through a little stage around 10-11 months old where she was ignoring me and being a huge brat. It was like she did a 180! We went right back to obedience class. She passed her CGC exam by the skin of her teeth. It helped a lot! She's my first dog, so I'm kinda learning things as I go. All those classes were really for me so I could figured out what the heck I was doing!
