Mother of "Teddy" (Theodora) says hello.

Welcome to you and Teddy, cute name for a beautiful girl. I am no expert at all on Sheltie coloring, but I know A LOT here in this forum are. Looking forward to reading what they say..

Again welcome, she is beautiful!!

welcome~ i remember wondering the same thing before i came here, why my female daisy didnt have that typical sheltie look about her and i dont know how many times ppl have commented that she must not be full blooded sheltie. but she is.if a shelties that have the perfect markings that u see pictures of most likely came from a professional breeder who shows their shelties and there shelties they breed fit the akc standard. im assuming u got urs from a backyard breeder? which would explain the markings and lack of coat. both my dogs are from byb's my female could be twins with your female, and although my male koda is from a byb i sometimes wonder if i would have been able to show him since he has perfect markings and the right size and bone structure, i just dont have a pedigree for him.

I love her full white collar!

And I had to laugh at your description of her waking you up to go out. Bacca does the same thing! When he wants me to get up in the morning, he'll stand beside my head and stare down at me....from time to time, he'll "push" my head with his snout then stand back and stare some more!

Welcome to the forum!

I do have a question. Her markings are VERY unusual. She has a lot of white on her face and her "mane" is not not clean and even, but the white fur zigzags where it meets the darker hair on her body. Is there an expectation that all Shelties have those clean, classic, even markings?

Welcome to the forum Rose and Teddy. Teddy is very beautiful.

Shelties can have any amount of white around their collars, on their face, legs and tail tip. Some have alot and some hardly any. No rule. They even look different on each side. My dog Justice has white all round his collar but left side is about 6 in wide and the right side is 2-3in. Diva's mom only has a white bib and a white diamond on the back of her neck. All is correct.

Ooo Teddy is adorable in the wagon!

Shelties come in all kinds of markings, colors and even sizes..in the same litter sometimes!! From my understanding, The markings can come in many varieties..some have alot of white on the face..some have big white manes..etc...I don't believe theres any objection to the amount of collars or white markings unless they have big polka dots on their bodies...unless they are merles....of course...

Oooo yes..the famous Sheltie stare...becareful, its their way of controling your mind and soul..LOL

By the way..I'm Julie and I have 2 Shelties, Clancy and Abby...Clancy is a almost 7 year old sable merle and he's a big one at 19 inches...Abby is a 5 year old bi black...They are living with the MIL right now..we are misplaced Americans living in Germany...soon moving to China..

Welcome to the group
